My son and I run a wood shop here in town and we really love all the work that we get to do.
The only thing that we don’t like about it is the fact that we have issues with the humidity in the shop from time to time.
Whenever you are doing woodwork of any kind, whether it’s furniture or shelving or cabinets, you have to be really careful when it comes to the air quality inside of your space where you are working. Before we started doing all of this woodworking, I never really thought that the air quality and humidity control were ever going to be that important in regards to the business that we were trying to run. We never thought that it was going to matter what sort of heating and air conditioning system we had in the woodshop, but it turned out that it was very important. After we had been in business for a couple of months, we realized that there were so many different pieces that we had been working on that warped or bent simply because of the humidity issues that we were having. That’s when we called the local commercial HVAC company to see if they had any suggestions for us and they definitely did. They came out to the shop and did an inspection for us. They figured out exactly what we needed in order to keep the humidity levels and the temperature levels at just the right place. Once the HVAC company did their job, we never had any more problems with the wood supplies again.
