Today I am meeting with my bandmate to try and save our band.
We make great music but have some structural problems within the band that are eroding it from the inside out.
The main issue is lack of communication from my bandmate, who is the typical introvert artist, but he can’t be an introvert with me or we are not going to make it. He clams up when I try to talk about something and then blows up later with a text message. I’ve gone through this before with other people and am not going to do it again. HVAC equipment sales is what I do for work each week and if this band doesn’t work out then I will find myself back to cleaning ducts in buildings and hating life. There is nothing wrong with doing that kind of work, but when you have done it forever and are ready to move on it can be soul sucking. My bandmate is a new contractor and likes his work but he really loves to play music and wants to make something happen. He just needs to be more open with his thoughts and voice his opinion without being shy or afraid. My heating and cooling supplier told me that he also is shy at work and runs into problems a lot with the employee because of his lack of communication with the HVAC customers. I will smooth this out tonight or we will have to pack our bags and go our separate ways, which would be sad because there is so much potential.
