It wasn't poorly functioning HVAC equipment, but a lack of insulation.

I sat in church last week, and the perspiration was flowing down my back.

I felt like I was sitting in a sauna instead of in a church.

I wasn’t sure I was going to get through the sermon without getting sick from the heat and humidity. Luckily, the minister was also having difficulties because of the heat and humidity, and he sent everyone home. He told my dad he knew the air conditioning unit wasn’t heavy enough to handle the added space of the additional three rooms, but he didn’t think it would affect the main church this badly. Dad owned the local HVAC company and promised to have someone out to the church in the morning. The minister was grateful that he would get someone there so soon, and he thanked him. Dad said the inspection was free, but if there were any parts needed, the church would need to pay cost. Dad’s help left the minister looking happy and said it was no problem. The next afternoon, the HVAC technician who looked at the air conditioning unit told dad the AC unit was in good shape. It was working hard trying to keep the church and anti-rooms cool, but there was a bigger problem than the AC unit. He said he had looked through the church and found that the real problem was a lack of insulation. Even in the new rooms, there was so little insulation, what AC was getting there was competing with the heat coming through the walls. He said he told the minister, but he wanted to hear it from me and not an employee.
