He asked me what kind of HVAC system I had, how old it was, and several other questions that I did not have answers to
Last week, I called the HVAC company. My allergies and asthma have been acting up really badly over the last couple of weeks. I had been told they had an air filter that could help to eliminate a lot of the allergens and bacteria that were in the air. They made so that most of the dust that got through a regular air filter would be trapped in a HEPA air filter. I wanted to know if I were to purchase a HEPA air filter; would that be enough to clean the air in my house? The lady on the phone told me to hold on a minute and she would get an HVAC technician on the phone for me. Two minutes later, I heard a man’s voice. He asked me what I wanted to know about the HEPA air filter? I told him I had been reading about them, and I wanted to know if the air filter would eliminate all the bacteria, germs, and allergens that got into my air. He asked me what kind of HVAC system I had, how old it was, and several other questions that I did not have answers to. He told me he would have to inspect my HVAC system and see if it could use a HEPA air filter. Since HEPA air filters were so much heavier, they were also thicker, and some of the older HVAC systems were not made to handle a thicker air filter. I made the appointment, only to find out that my HVAC system could accept a whole home air purification system, but I cannot just put the HEPA air filters into the furnace or the air conditioning unit.
