When my husband and I turned the spare bedroom into the nursery, we bought an air purification system. The nursery was the room right next to our bedroom, and we had to put a door opening directly from our room into the nursery. Since we were already needing to rip into the wall, my husband suggested we set up an air purification system and have a switch so we could turn it off and on when the baby wasn’t there. Being a new mother, I wanted to make sure my home was as clean and safe as I could get it for my newborn. My baby had been in a secluded area for nine months, and I didn’t want to subject it to the germs and bacteria of our world. Both my husband and my mom thought this was a great idea. We found the perfect room size air purification system and set it up. We made sure the ductwork was cleaned and sanitized before the baby was born, and had a team of house cleaners come in and clean our home top-to-bottom. At nine months pregnant, I wasn’t doing much other than laying in bed. My husband made sure the HVAC system was cleaned, and we had new air filters in the system. I knew I was probably going overboard with the ductwork cleaning and the air purification system, but I wouldn’t take any chances. Before we actually put the air purification system into the baby’s room, my husband suggested we have a whole home air purifier installed. We went with the room air purifier for now and had the whole home air purification added in the spring.
