When I noticed all the dust on my furniture and could smell my air as I walked into the house, I knew I needed to have my ductwork cleaned.
I called the HVAC company and asked them to send a team of ductwork cleaners to my house.
One week later, the ductwork cleaners were at my house. They pulled out what looked like a large vacuum cleaner and several large scrub brushes and started pulling up my air vents in the house. They were blocking all but one of the air vents off with some kind of heavy paper. I assumed that the air vent they left unblocked was what they were going to work with. It took them nearly an hour to prepare my house before they could clean the ductwork, and I was getting anxious. I had to go to work, and if they were much more than another hour, I was going to be late. I asked one of the HVAC technicians how long it takes to clean the ductwork? He was very vague when he told me it shouldn’t take much longer, but I would notice a big change in the way my house smells and in the amount of dust I had in the house. What I wanted to know was how much longer they were going to have to be in my house before they were done? He shrugged and said it shouldn’t be much more than an hour. An hour later, they were done with the cleaning and sanitizing, and putting their equipment back. I asked if they had found any air leaks in the ductwork, and the HVAC technician stopped dead. It was a good thing they hadn’t put everything away.
