I think it’s great for kids to have access to basic HVAC classes

I have been getting overly stressed at my job, & have not had as much free time to do my volunteer work at the orphanage I was raised at.

I used to go every week, sometimes twice a week, but now it’s difficult to even get a few days every month there with the youngsters.

I had a pretty good idea that I ran by the clergy at the orphanage, about coming by on the second Monday of every month & teaching some basic classes to the youngsters about being an HVAC technician. It may not be glamorous or fancy, but being a Heating, Ventilation, & A/C appliance professional is a great way to put food on the table without spending a sizable fortune on your education. Every class I hold the bunch of us start by going over what I call the basic anatomy of a piece of Heating, Ventilation, & A/C equipment. I started with gas furnaces, because a gas furnace is fairly basic to work on & it’s a good site to get started. We moved on to air filters & ductwork systems in the next few classes, learning each area of the HVAC system one at a time. Eventually the bunch of us got to a/cs, which are so much more difficult than anything else in this business. Along the way they are learning the basic math used for ventilation & air exchange, and getting comfortable working on machines with their actual hands. I don’t genuinely care if any of them get into Heating, Ventilation, & A/C appliance work or not, as long as they actually learn something from the classes I am offering.
