When my daughter got engaged to be married, my husband and I started to get really excited about the wedding. We saved for ten years for her wedding and we didn’t want to spare any expense. We contracted a wedding planner to help with the ceremony and reception. That was one of the best ideas we had, because it saved us a ton of time, energy, and headaches. The wedding planner took care of all the minor details. She was in charge of corresponding with the caterer, band, photographer, and venue staff. On the day of the wedding, the caterer arrived with all of the food and the cake. It was warm in the kitchen that day, but the cake was supposed to sit on the counter. The caterer decided to shut off the heat, so the icing on the cake wouldn’t melt and ruin the presentation. Unfortunately, instead of turning off just the heat to the kitchen, the caterer turned off the heat to the entire venue. By the time we were preparing for the reception, The wedding planner was just finding out about the cold indoor temperatures. The heat had been off for several hours and the reception area felt very cold and chilly. Instead of delaying our festivities, The wedding planner found some space heaters at a nearby hardware store and sent someone to buy them all. It was warm by the time the bride and groom arrived, but the sound from the space heaters made it very difficult to hear all of the wedding announcements and I almost missed my toast.
