I was getting double billed for three months

I am the manager of a 300 unit apartment building.

During the summer, we can be backed up with air conditioner repairs. The apartment buildings are very old and in need of serious renovations. We have an issue with an air conditioner every single day. When the maintenance staffing supervisor quit without notice, I was left without a person to repair the air conditioners. I had to hire an outside service to handle all of the requests. I didn’t have a lot of time to look for the best company, so I went with an HVAC company that was recommended by a friend. The HVAC company handles repairs for commercial and residential clients. They were happy to meet with me and discuss my needs. As soon as I retained the company, I had five calls for air conditioner repairs in the same week. The bills started rolling and slowly and I had a stack of paperwork on my desk from the HVAC company. They wanted to be paid for all of the work. It was a reasonable request, but I had to submit all of the paperwork to the management company before they would write a check. They wrote a check in June and another check in July. In August, they sent me an e-mail with questions about the billing practices. I was getting double billed for 3 months and I didn’t notice until the management company started looking at all of the bills. I had to find another company fast while we sorted out the financial problems with the first company.
