My partner and I responded to a call downtown at a particular apartment building. A resident in the building contacted police, because she smelled an awful odor coming from the apartment next door. He told the police that she believed someone was cooking meth. My partner and I received the call and we went to the apartment to check on the problem. My partner and I knocked on the door a couple times, but we didn’t hear anything at all. We found the building supervisor and he agreed to open the door under these strange circumstances. As soon as we opened the door, the horrible odor and stunt hit us in the face. I knew that smell very well. There was a dead body somewhere in the roThe poor woman died in her sleep with the heater running and the warm air cooked the body very quickly. The heater made it difficult to determine the time of death, but the medical examiner determined she died of natural causes. There was no murder or crime involved, but we were thankful the neighbor alerted someone.
