People laugh at me when I do that, but I really don’t care
I work in a beautiful downtown office building. Well, half the time I work from there. The other half of the time, I work from home, which has become commonplace during the epidemic, right? I am fortunate in that I still have a job, and I am grateful, too. One thing I am not grateful for, though, is the battle I get into every time I am in the office. You might think it is a fight with my boss, but it’s not. Well, then, you think it might be with someone in one of the other offices in the building, but it is not. The battle I seem to engage in every day is the office’s HVAC equipment. In the summer, the a/c in my boss’s office never gets down to the thermostat setting he likes, so what does he do? He sets my thermostat way too low inhope of the cooling reaching his office. So, in summer I am freezing due to the a/c in my boss’s office. NOw that winter is here, and it is regularly freezing or close to it, I am still freezing! The HVAC heating doesn’t seem to get warm enough. I finally got sick of it and ordered an electric portable heater for my office. I plug that thing in and put it on the floor and soon I have lots of heating blowing on my feet and warming me from the bottom up. Sometimes I am so cold that I put the little heater right on my desk. People laugh at me when I do that, but I really don’t care. Without the heater, it is too cold for me to be able to type, and since I want to keep my job, I do what I have to do.
