I read online that you could clean your own ductwork if you had a long handle and a dust buster – and save a lot of moneyIf you don’t call out the professional heating and cooling company.
For some reason I have this tendency to take on projects that I cannot handle by myself. I always think that I am more handy, resourceful, and capable than I actually am. I watch a few videos online and suddenly decide that I am a handyman myself. The truth is, I don’t know a single thing about power tools. I have never successfully installed an appliance. And I tend to make every household responsibility worse when I take it on. This is why I was kicking myself last week after I attempted to clean out my air ducts and promptly realized that I was in over my head. In fact, I needed a central heating, cooling, and air quality control technician to arrive as soon as possible after the damage I caused. Along with the HVAC technician, I was going to be calling out a professional extermination service at the same point. The trouble all started when I decided that my indoor air quality could be improved. I knew that my air ductwork hadn’t been cleaned in several years, at least, so it seemed like the air filter and ductwork were excellent places to start with my HVAC assault. I read online that you could clean your own ductwork if you had a long handle and a dust buster – and save a lot of moneyIf you don’t call out the professional heating and cooling company. Of course, I decided to do this. Wouldn’t you know, I almost immediately ran into a nest of bugs in my ductwork. Once I had released the hive of insects, I knew that my duct cleaning days were over… and I might never sleep again. Now, I’m doing research to find the best air quality and extermination specialists in the area.
