I frantically called my heating and cooling technician the next day.
Getting an unexpected bonus at work allows me to get necessary repairs and upgrades done on my house. I worried for months that I wouldn’t have the money nor any conceivable way of earning the money to replace my roof after my home insurance agent mentioned it in our recent phone call. I hated the idea that I needed a new roof in the next four years, but I was able to put that off until the following year. By this time I had saved enough money out of each paycheck to cover the huge costs associated with a roofing upgrade. As some say, when it rains, it pours—and that’s exactly what happened to me with my home expenses. Once the roof was finished, I discovered that I had mold growing inside my air conditioner. I started unscrewing the metal grates for the ceiling HVAC vents and found black mold growing on the metal surfaces inside that section of ductwork. After removing a few more ceiling vent covers, I found the same thing. I frantically called my heating and cooling technician the next day. I was relieved after I spoke to the HVAC technician. He told me that his company offered HVAC cleaning, and that it’s free to get once every two years if you purchase the service contract like I had. The heating and cooling supplier agreed to clean my air handler and my ductwork at no additional cost, so I paid nothing out of pocket to get rid of the mold in my air system. I’m glad that I bought an HVAC maintenance contract more than anything else.
