I’m terrified of the thought of carbon monoxide poisoning in my sleep

It’s easy enough to install carbon monoxide alarms, but I somehow overlooked this essential safeguard

I always make sure that I have working smoke detectors wherever I live, even if I’m staying with a friend or relative. I had one terrifying experience when I was a child where I woke up to see one of my bedroom walls engulfed in flames. We all got out of the house safely, but the experience left an impression on me. Never again would I put myself in a position where I could burn to death in my sleep. It might seem like overkill to most, but I have smoke detectors in every room of my house. I even had them hardwired to the home’s electrical grid so I never have to replace a dying battery again. I know with confidence that they’re always working when I need them the most. But I realized recently that I had made a huge omission when I put so much energy and thought into having a network of smoke detectors all throughout the house. We use gas appliances and I stupidly never bought carbon monoxide detectors. In worst case scenarios, leaking gas appliances can sometimes put toxic carbon monoxide fumes into your indoor air. It’s easy enough to install carbon monoxide alarms, but I somehow overlooked this essential safeguard. I have ordered several carbon monoxide alarms off the internet so I never have to worry that my central furnace is poisoning me in my sleep. People have died from gas leaks with gas powered furnaces when they malfunction, and I have no interest in becoming another statistic. I will put one in every room of the house so I can make sure I never missed a potential gas leak in the near or distant future.
