If I buy a new furnace in the summer, will it be cheaper?

A couple months ago, I had my HVAC company come in and clean my furnace.

They told me I would need to have a new furnace before the next winter season began.

The man waited patiently after telling me this. I think he was waiting for me to tell him to order a new furnace for me, but I disappointed him. I was wondering if I could get the furnace cheaper if I were to buy it in the summer. I know that even the HVAC company has mid-season sales on the old inventory. I thought it would be a reasonable assumption that they would also have their old inventory of furnaces on sale. I made the decision, right then, that I wasn’t going to purchase a new furnace at that time. His smile disappeared when I told him I wouldn’t be putting this commission in his pocket. He finished his furnace servicing and walked out of the house. When summer arrived, I was anxiously perusing the newspaper, hoping to find the perfect sale. Finally, I found the sale I had been waiting for. It was a pre-season sale that advertised last year’s models of furnaces to be 40% off. They were also offering free installation. I knew I had waited for a reason, and this was the sale I was waiting for. I called the HVAC company and made an appointment to check out the sale furnaces. It didn’t take long for them to come to the house and show me their inventory. I loved that I was able to purchase without any pressure, and I got a great deal on the furnace.
