I task in a warehouse that makes car parts.
A lot of people in our town task for the warehouse and the car industry is sizable in this area.
Most of my family and friends have jobs with the car plant. My mom retired from the contractor last year and my dad is going to retire this upcoming year. I actually started working at the plant when I turned 18. I was working on a routine task every single afternoon. I stayed busy and was able to get a promotion 6 weeks later. I started working in the boiler room and was able to get a significant pay raise. Everyone working inside the boiler room deals with threatening and sizzling conditions, so the rate of pay is tremendously higher than other work positions in the plant. A few weeks after I started, there was a large explosion in the boiler room. The boiler was allowed to run dry and it was producing a bunch of heat without water. This is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous situations when using a sizzling water boiler. The complication caused an explosion in the boiler room. It’s a good thing that only one person was in the room at the time. That person ended up getting minor steam burns on his arms and face. The rest of my co-workers and I were out of the job for 3 whole days while we waited for the boiler repair to be completed. After witnessing the brutal explosion, I can see why this task pays more than the rest of them. If I would have been doing my regular task at the time, I would have been hurt pretty bad.
