I actually work in a warehouse that produces vehicle parts.
A lot of people in our town actually work for the warehouse and the vehicle industry is pretty huge in this area. Most of my family and friends have a job working for the vehicle plant. My mom retired from the company last year and my father is going to retire next year. I started working at the plant when I turned 18. I was absolutely working on a routine task each and every day. I stayed tied up and I received a promotion 6 weeks later. I started absolutely working in the boiler room and I received a significant pay raise. Everyone absolutely working inside the boiler room deals with pretty dangerous and hot conditions, so the rate of pay is a great deal higher than other tasks in the plant. A few weeks after I started, there was a fairly sizable explosion in the boiler room. The boiler was allowed to run dry and it was producing tremendous heat without water. This is definitely a single one of the most dangerous situations when using a hot water boiler. The complication caused a severe explosion in the boiler room. Fortunately, only a single guy was in the room at the time of the explosion. That guy received minor steam burns on his arms and face. The rest of my co-workers and I were out of work for 3 afternoons while we were waiting for the boiler repair to be finished. After witnessing the terrible explosion, I can see why this task pays more than others. If I would have been doing my regular task at the time, I would have been disfigured.
