We have decided that we want to buy a cottage as a retirement home, but we would really like to have a place with a wood burning fireplace. It seems like finding a place with a fireplace around here wouldn’t be that much of an issue, but apparently it is. I have looked at several places but not one of them has a fireplace and that’s kind of a dealbreaker for us. Of course, my husband is more interested in finding a place that has a high efficiency heating and cooling system installed in it already. That’s another issue that we are having. He wants the place that we end up purchasing to be ready to move in because he doesn’t want to have to do any work on the place at all. I told him that unless we move into a condo or something, there’s always going to be something to do in any house. Of course, we really want a nice place for our retirement home, but I just don’t want to live somewhere that doesn’t have a fireplace in it. I have always loved fireplaces, but the past three houses that we have lived in haven’t had one. I know that if I’m going to buy a forever home to be our retirement place, I really want to have a fireplace and a great heating and cooling system. I hope we find a place soon, because I am getting a little bit sick of looking, to tell you the truth. Buying a new house is a lot of work!
