Several years ago when our neighbor moved into the house next door I was excited to see that they seemed to share a lot of our same beliefs.
They had political signs up in their yard without missing a beat.
They were constantly outdoors, trying to improve the yard and benefit the environment by planting native species. They preferred to drive energy efficient vehicles if they weren’t biking or walking as an eco-friendly alternative. In short, it seems like we had the same outlook on life as our new neighbors. As time has gone on, I have gotten a bit annoyed with them, however. For some reason, these human beings have a strange obsession with indoor air quality that I can’t begin to wrap my head around. As quickly as they moved in, they started talking to us about our central heating and cooling system. It seemed like our neighbors were always paying a lot of attention to our air conditioning system in the backyard. They had a lot to say about the sounds that emanated from the cooling system and the frequency of our air conditioning unit usage. That’s when they started recommending that we upgrade our entire central heating and cooling plan using their favorite HVAC repair dealership in town. They even started leaving us flyers in our mailbox for the local HVAC repair shop. My husband and I actually started avoiding our neighbors so we could duck out of the hot and cold conversations. It was only last month when I finally understood the immense interest in our indoor air quality control devices. It turns out, our neighbors are related to the family that owns the heating and cooling repair shop.
