We all take advantage of our heating and cooling systems without ever truly realizing it.
Being able to turn on and off your heat or air at the touch of a button is a luxury that many in this world do not have, and we all take it for granted.
One of the ways that we are able to enjoy such a luxury, though, is through the ductwork that is concealed within the walls and ceilings of our homes, and often it is never given a second thought. Lately I have been experiencing some issues with my health, and I have had a hard time determining what is causing my frequent headaches and congested sinuses. It’s springtime, so I certainly have had exposure to allergens like pollen, but this feels different, and has been a constant nagging issue for a few months. I deep cleaned my home, thinking that maybe I had too much dust in and around where I sleep, but that didn’t help either. Finally I was able to narrow down the issue to my air conditioning, because once I got to work, I felt better. When I got home from work and turned down my A/C, the headaches and congestion returned. As I got sicker, I realized that there was a serious problem and I called in the HVAC experts. They concluded that my ductwork had likely not been cleaned in many years, and it was likely that I had a mold problem. Sure enough, the testing came back positive for microbial growth in the air vents and ducts. I learned the hard way that it is essential to clean out your entire heating and cooling system not just for it to continue working well, but for your health as well.
