He read a few books about how it is smart to invest in assets that make money per month.
If you have enough assets and a high networth you can retire early. My husband isn’t a great investor however. He is too cautious and stingy with money. Currently he has two rental investments. One is a duplex that he rents out to two different people. Another is a single family home that he rents out. The duplex is quite the money maker. His people hardly call and he never seems to go over there. He was lucky that the next door neighbor is a lawn guy that cuts the grass for free. There is also a local handyman that lives on the same street. Anything that does go wrong can be solved quickly. The single family home rental is a pain in the butt. My husband is always fixing that up. He had to hire a contractor to do the flooring in the kitchen. Then the washer and dryer quit. He got a deal on those used. Then the stove no longer worked and I got a new one and they got my old one. Next the back deck fell into pieces and again, a property maintenance company had to fix that. Recently the HVAC system went up and quit. It cost my husband over 5 grand to get a new one. He isn’t really making that much on rentals. It doesn’t seem to matter though, he always seems to want more. He loves looking for them online.
