From the way my wife talked about the courthouse, I thought that getting jury duty would be a great place to go and enjoy the air conditioning.
- My wife worked at the courthouse and she was always talking about how cold it was.
She said they had the air conditioning turned so low that she had to wear a jacket all day long. I longed for the ability to be able to have some cool air. When I got to the courthouse, I was looking for the right courtroom. I couldn’t believe how hot it was in the building. I kept wondering where my wife worked that it was so hot in this area, and she had all of the air conditioning in her area. I felt like they had the furnace turned on and it was so hot that I couldn’t breathe. I finally found the right courtroom and I entered. At last I had found the air conditioning that I was dreaming of. I had just got seated and some came in and announced the judge was about to enter. They also said something about the heating being broken but they hoped to have heat in the courtroom before the next session. They apologized about having the air conditioning running, but without it there was no ventilation. I groaned so loudly that several people turned to stare at me. During break, one of the men who was in the courtroom came up to me and told me that the heating wouldn’t be as intense in the courthouse. He said they had to make sure the jurors stayed awake.
