When last spring rolled around, I really wanted to be ready and prepared for the summer better than I had been.
Prior to this summer, I’d simply just let the HVAC cooling rip and suffered the consequences when it came to the utility bill.
Since I first moved down here, I have wanted to come up with a more reasonable strategy than throwing more air conditioning at the problem. For sure, there’s no way to get through this sort of summer without HVAC cooling. I’m very fortunate to have purchased a house with the very latest in residential HVAC when I moved down here. But as efficient as that HVAC unit is, when the air conditioning is running almost non stop, it gets really expensive. So this spring, I took a different approach and just sort of decided to accept the heat a bit more. Along with the high costs of all that air conditioning, I was getting sick of feeling so overwhelmed by the heat that all I could do was to stay inside the house. I wanted to get out at least in the morning and in the evening. For sure, being inside the HVAC cooling during the peak heating hours of the day is recommended. So this spring, I didn’t go right for the air conditioning and just started to acclimate to the heat all spring. By the time I got to June, the thermostat was in a much higher position. I was more comfortable with the heat so I didn’t need to have the HVAC cooling just going crazy all summer. I saved a bunch of money and I got outside to enjoy my summer more.
