Working from home has its challenges sometimes, but the good usually outweighs the bad. For me, the very best part about working at home is the fact that I am the one who gets to adjust the thermostat settings. Whenever I was working in the office downtown up until 2020, I had to deal with an incompetent office manager who had no idea what she was doing when it came to setting the thermostat to the right temperature. She was constantly leaving the air conditioning on too low in the summertime and freezing us all out. I remember thinking that I could see my breath one day whenever I was sitting at my computer working. I just remember thinking that I should not have to live like that. I mean, when you are in the same place for 8 or 9 hours a day, it can really make your life miserable if the indoor air quality is horrible like it was in my office. I was actually so unhappy at work because of the temperature settings that I actually thought about quitting. I was all prepared to give my resignation over to my boss when he asked me why I was so unhappy. At that point, I decided to just go ahead and tell him what the real issue actually was. I’m glad I did, too, because he told me that he didn’t want to lose me as an employee. That’s when he told me that I could start to work from home and ever since then, the temperature settings in my office have been absolutely perfect.
