Today was one of the proudest days of my entire life, and really makes me think I have done something notable with my life. I was an orphan, raised by the church, and I always considered myself very lucky. I always had shelter, food, and clean water. I was given clothes, and taught to read and write, and given a scholarship for my further education. When I had a chance to repay the favor to the church, I did so every chance I got. I started teaching the older orphans about the basics of heating and cooling repair. After a couple years of that, when my oldest student turned 18 and left the orphanage, I gave him a scholarship for night classes to prepare for the HVAC certification test. He aced the classes, and today he was awarded his HVAC certification, which means he has the skills to get a job anywhere he will ever go. This makes me so proud, because I have no children of my own but I consider these orphans like family, and now one of them is following my footsteps into the HVAC industry. Of course I have already offered him a job in my HVAC company, which he has accepted. This will allow him to keep visiting his friends in the orphanage, since my company handles all heating and cooling work for the local diocese. He can also help me teach the HVAC prep course to the other kids. Imagine that, a class he used to take about A/C and furnace repair got him a good job, and now he is continuing the legacy.
