I have always worked at a Taco Bell when I arrived home from college during the holiday months.
- It is actually a very busy time for Taco Bell, as so many people frequent the establishment in order to get out of the house and being alone with their parents in the suburbs.
But instead, the only ‘fun. thing to do is to go to the Taco Bell in a neighboring town. The Taco Bell managers were nice enough, or at least so I thought until they refused to ask for us to be given a new heater. One of the new kids accidentally dumped fry oil into the HVAC unit in the kitchen, which has an outward facing vent. The oil fell onto the pilot light and started a crazy and big fire. When we finally got the fire extinguisher to put out the fire in the HVAC unit, there was jut a charbroiled, blackened metal box in front of us, with no ability to produce heat or anything. The next day our managers refused to ask for a new HVAC system to be installed, and it was during the deadly middle of winter! The employees banded together and instead reached out to a local HVAC company to come and take a look. They were able to install a brand new HVAC system, and also got the entire thing to be paid for by the Taco Bell insurance, which was basically the best part. When our annoying managers came in the next day and saw the new HVAC unit and how cozy it was keeping the kitchen workers, they were a little pissed, but luckily they were fired the next day once I had let upper management know.
