When I was 21 years old, I was so excited to begin life as an adult.
After graduating from college and landing a fantastic job, I assumed life would be smooth sailing after that point.
But it was during that time I realized how little I knew about life. I was prepared to become a successful person while at work, but at home, I was clueless. I knew nothing about how to maintain a home, how to fix or troubleshoot broken appliances, and I barely knew anything about an HVAC system. So, when I noticed that my unit was blowing hot air, I had no idea what could have gone wrong with it. Up until that point, the unit functioned perfectly fine. Well, I called an HVAC provider, and they sent a technician to my home. And I was floored when the technician told me that my air filter was causing the problem. I was living in that house for 2 years, and I had not changed the filter at all. I honestly had no idea that I needed to change the air filter. That was not part of my lesson that I received while going to school. Anyway, on that day, I learned that a dirty air filter can cause a system to work much harder than it should, and it can cause a system to clog and blow hot air. Ever since then, I have changed my filter regularly, and I have learned more about troubleshooting an HVAC unit. Sometimes it takes something to go wrong for us to learn valuable lessons.
