Next week, we have to get the ductwork in our house cleaned.
This wasn’t really something that we ever planned on doing, but then we had a little bit of remodeling done in her house and it became very necessary.
Several years ago, I read in an HVAC blog that most of the time people don’t need to have their ductwork cleaned out on a regular basis because your ventilation system is a closed circuit. Since the ductwork is not really coming into contact with the elements at all, you don’t end up getting it very dirty most of the time. However, this is not the case whenever you are doing remodeling work and you have sheetrock dust everywhere in your house! I learned that the hard way when we were having some drywall replaced, and we weren’t able to keep the dust cleared up as much as we wanted to. The drywall dust covered literally every single thing in the house and I even felt like it was coating my teeth part of the time! Anyway, at one point, I just couldn’t stand it anymore and that’s when I decided to call the local HVAC company to have them come and do some professional ductwork cleaning for us. It’s times like these that you actually need to get your ductwork cleaned out professionally. When it’s covered up with drywall dust, the HVAC system just keeps recirculating it over and over whenever your heating and cooling system comes on and that’s not good for anyone. That’s why I made an appointment with the HVAC company.
