Now Would Be the Time To Get a More Eco-Friendly Heating Option at My House

Our oil furnace has seen better days. Both of us have had our oil furnace for nearly 15 years, which means that our oil furnace is not going to be with us much longer. Soon, the oil furnace will need to be replaced with a modern way to heat our home. This Winter season was the first outward indication that our oil furnace will not make it through another February. I can’t tell you how many times I was forced to deal with furnace concerns this winter, although I hope to document a few here. First of all, our oil furnace would simply shut itself off in the middle of the night for most of the Winter season. I was forever getting up at 2 AM to find out that our oil furnace was breathing cold breath around the house. I would turn it off & back on, & the oil furnace would get back in the groove & start heating our house. Towards the end of the Winter season, at different times throughout the afternoon, I would hear what sounded like horses mating coming from our oil furnace room. Apparently, all sorts of little heater components were dying with our oil furnace, & we would need to replace many little parts. Finally, in the last numerous weeks of the Winter season, the oil furnace just bit the dust completely. The oil furnace would no longer turn on, blow hot, or do anything that oil furnaces are designed to do. I went to the home improvement shop & bought a small propane area oil furnace to keep us hot until winter was over & I now realize that it is necessary to call a Heating as well as Air Conditioning serviceman to see what we can do about heating for next year. If there is a more modern method that would help the environment, now would be the perfect time to upgrade the heating to a more eco-friendly option.
