Once You Use Air Conditioning There is No Going Back to Being Without It

When I inform others that I have no A/C in our house, you should see the looks they give me. I built our tiny house in such a way that an A/C isn’t necessary due to the fact that the cool breeze & natural location of the tiny house make our tiny house cooler than other people’s houses of any size. However, even if I did want to spend money on an A/C, I wouldn’t ever purchase an A/C, not even a window A/C. This is because A/Cs can become an addiction to people who will then be unable to do without them. Have you ever met someone who is regularly using an A/C? If the temperature in their home or office fluctuates even a few degrees, they freak out! And if their A/Cs split down, they start to act like they were going to die, & they would absolutely think that was so. This is why people spend thousands of dollars on window A/Cs & central A/Cs, & this is also why Americans pay HVAC servicemens thousands of dollars to fix & maintain their A/Cs for them. When you tell somebody that an A/C is not a prerequisite to survival or even comfort, they immediately react in 1 of 2 ways. Either they get a faraway look in their eyes because they can’t even tolerate the thought of not having an A/C, or they immediately get defensive about their use of air conditioning. This, our dear friends, is why I absolutely do not want to own an A/C. I would rather have a bit of discomfort during the coldest and hottest days than become addicted to using an A/C.
