A couple of years ago, my husband and I moved our family out of an apartment in the city.
We bought a house in the suburbs with a lot more space and privacy.
The kids have a yard to play in, and we have a garage where we can park our cars. I now have a big kitchen, and my husband enjoys having a workshop. We’ve added a dog to our family and are planning to install a swimming pool. There are a long list of benefits that come with our new home. One of the few drawbacks is our commute to the city. It’s a long drive to reach restaurants, shops and the various amenities. I particularly miss access to a fitness center. The length of the drive forced me to give up my gym membership. I simply don’t have the extra time to devote to my workouts. Just managing an hour for exercise every morning is difficult. By necessity, I’ve set up a home gym. I’m fortunate to have an extra room in the house that I can dedicate to my exercise equipment. While I started out with basics such as some hand weights and a yoga mat, I was frustrated by the lack of more complex machines. So far, I’ve invested into a stationary bike and a treadmill. While the machines aren’t cheap, they are definitely worth the cost. The weather in my local area keeps me inside just about all year round. I utilize my fitness equipment every day. I am currently saving up to buy an elliptical, and I hope to eventually afford battle ropes and some type of weight lifting machine.
