My paycheck was late and I barely had enough money to pay the HVAC company

It’s hard working for a company that is slowly falling apart.

I have to come in for overtime hours on a recurring basis and it’s burning me out.

We worry constantly that we’re all going to be let go at a moment’s notice at some random time in the short term future. I keep looking for alternative jobs in my industry, but nothing shows up when I stop to search listings both locally and nationally. The best thing I can do right now is dig my heels into the ground and learn to deal with the adversity until I find a replacement job. I just wish they would do their absolute minimum by paying us on time. It happened for the first time last year and I was late on several bills. I asked for a guarantee that I would be paid on the dates we agreed upon, but received nothing but silence in response. Unfortunately, it happened again this month at one of the worst times possible. I had already scheduled to have my HVAC supplier send out a technician to perform repairs on the air conditioner. I waited to the absolute last minute—that day I knew I would be paid. Unfortunately, my check never hit my bank account like it was supposed to, so I had to use a credit card to pay the HVAC company. By the grace of God the charge cleared my credit card with just three dollars to spare. I was paid the following day, but I wasn’t happy about the delay. I need to find a better company to work for at this point moving forward.
