I told my wife that we needed to splurge on our vacation and treat ourselves after two years of hell during COVID. The pandemic is far from over, but it seems to be slowly improving as of late. At least the infection numbers in our particular area are starting to drop after months of rising cases. My wife and I get our boosters when necessary and wear masks in most public places, particularly indoors. We knew that the tropical resorts in the city we wanted to visit were all following strict COVID guidelines and we weren’t worried about that too much. You can only do your best to be as careful as you possibly can be, just like you do when you have sex and you’re trying to avoid STIs or pregnancy. You have mitigation efforts to follow, but there’s a degree of chance at play beyond that. What really surprised us was how cold the air conditioner was in our room at the resort. We learned that all of the rooms in the resort had installed upgraded ductless mini splits the year prior to our trip. They were still working so well it was as if they were brand new. I would love to return to this resort again in the future assuming they maintain these ductless mini split air conditioners well enough that they work properly. There’s the option of coming here in the winter as well when it’s still nice but the weather is a little colder. I heard that their ductless mini splits are heat pumps so they can heat the rooms when the temperatures outside are above 32 degrees fahrenheit.
