That resulted in an emergency shut down
There is entirely some truth to the method of going with your genuinely first instinct. Because I didn’t go with our genuinely first instinct when it came to the gas heating system, I ended up voiding our heating and A/C warranty and writing a large check. That seems like a large price to pay for making the mistake of thinking that perhaps I could save on a heating and A/C repair call by taking things into our own hands. Of course, when I walked into the home after work to find no heating and A/C heating, our first thought was to call the heating and A/C contractor. Wow, I actually wish I could have that moment back plus take another shot at doing this the right way. Instead, I talked myself into having a look at the gas heating system although I had no idea what I was doing with heating and A/C equipment. I took the panel off and found a burnt out switch. Then, I took it to the hardware store and bought a replacement. It wasn’t the same as saying it would fit my gas heating system. I blocked in the switch and the heating system fired right up. The gas heating system ran like normal and I thought I was a hero. That is until the heating system came crashing down a few afternoons later due to that faulty switch I bought. It wasn’t to factory specs and allowed the gas heating system to get too hot. That resulted in an emergency shut down. This was a genuinely extravagant lesson given that I don’t have a warranty on the heating and A/C component any longer plus it cost me more than a grand to repair the gas heating system.
