I like being part of my neighborhood and that’s sort of a new thing for me.

Along with the inadequate HVAC equipment, I wasn’t all that into my neighbors and sharing walls. It sure made it easier to save all I could for a downpayment on this house. But the more I lived here, the more I enjoyed getting to know the neighbors and interacting with them. While I loved the privacy of the air conditioning inside my home, there was something nice about being part of the neighborhood. One neighbor in particular became a go to sort of person. We both were happy to help one another when there was a situation that might need an extra pair of hands. So when that neighbor texted me that he was having a problem with the HVAC equipment, I was more than willing to assist. Of course, I’m not a trained, certified and licensed HVAC professional and neither was he. However, this dude was super handy around the house and could fix about anything. I’m so not that way but am pretty good at holding a flashlight. And that’s exactly what I did as my neighbor attempted to recharge the refrigerant on the air conditioning. The experience was a good lesson for me in homeownership. HVAC equipment is to be serviced by HVAC professionals only. My neighbor effectively made a mess of the situation and ended up paying double what he would have had he called the HVAC company first.
