After the gas line was replaced, the problem was cleared up.
A customer called last week, because she was concerned about the furnace. The 75 year old lady was distraught without any heat in her home. She believed she would freeze to death if the problem wasn’t fixed that day. I scheduled an appointment for later in the day. I happen to be the person available at the appointment time, so I went to evaluate the furnace problem. The customer was upset because the furnace sounded like it was running, but there was no heat coming out of the ductwork. It seemed like an issue with the gas. I carefully evaluated the system and spent some time troubleshooting different solutions to the problem. One of the main gas lines had a small hole in the side. Are was able to enter the gas line from the whole and this was causing an issue for the furnace. I replaced the 8 inch gas line, which only took about 15 or 20 minutes. After the gas line was replaced, the problem was cleared up. It only took about an hour to fix the furnace problem and then I was off to another heating repair job. The guys and I handled 12 different repair calls that day and we set up three appointments for furnace installation jobs on the weekend. We prefer to install brand new equipment on the weekends, when our customers will be home all day. It can take most of the day to install new heating or air conditioning equipment and an adult needs to be in the home at all times.
