When lockdown first began I needed a spot in my house to work from home, and conduct zoom meetings without being disturbed by my children or my dogs. I decided to build a backyard home office. I found the plans for my home office shed online, and once I ordered all of the materials, I was able to construct the building in no time. All of the construction was going according to plan, and my new office was looking great. The only decision I had left to make was how to heat and cool my new office. I didn’t want to install a central HVAC system, as that would have been costly and time consuming. Window AC units are ugly and inefficient, and I didn’t want to sacrifice my one window to an air conditioner. I decided to go with a ductless mini-split for my new home office. A ductless mini-split functions similarly to a traditional air conditioner, there is an evaporator and a condenser, however, the flow of coolant can be reversed so that you can cool a space in the summer, and heat the same space in the winter with just one device. The installation was quick and easy, as I only needed to drill a three inch hole for all of the necessary components. My new office is the most comfortable place I’ve ever worked, and thanks to the air conditioning, I can focus for long hours at a time. Since installing a ductless mini-split in my backyard home office, I have been more productive than ever!
