Trouble with the furnace can ruin your winter

My wife and I have a party for our friends and family every year during December.

We decorate the entire house with festive colors and we spend two or three days making food for the party.

Last December, we had a house full of people. All of the kids showed up with their spouses and their children. My wife and I were surprised, because even our daughter that lives a thousand miles away decided to fly in for the weekend. It was nice to have all of the kids in one house. It might be a long time before that happens again. The whole house was filled with people and our guests were walking in and out of the house frequently. I didn’t realize that house was getting colder until it was absolutely frigid. The kitchen was drafty, but I thought it was due to the front door being opened so many different times. When I realized the house was cold, I checked the thermostat. It was much colder than it should have been. This prompted me to check the furnace. I quickly realized that the furnace was not running. Even when I adjusted the temperature on the thermostat, the furnace still did not come on. Since it was Saturday night, I knew I couldn’t call the heating company. After everyone left the party, I worked on the furnace myself. Thankfully it was a simple fix after I figured out the problem. I didn’t even need to order any spare parts. I had everything I needed in my tool shed.
