A couple of weeks ago, my dad told me that the oil furnace was giving him trouble.
He was having intermittent heating problems and he could not figure out how to fix the issue.
I tried to help my dad solve the furnace problem, but neither one of us determined that issue. My dad finally decided to call the heating company last week. My mom and dad found out that they needed a brand new furnace. I’m not terribly surprised, since the machine was 13 years old. My Mom and Dad decided to buy a new energy-efficient furnace. They had to spend a little bit more money on the new furnace, but the energy efficient furnace has a 99% AFUE rating. 99% of the energy used by the furnace is directly involved in converting cold air to heat. That old furnace had an 80% AFUE rating. The new furnace is going to save my mom and dad a lot of money each month. The new furnace is also a lot more quiet than the old machine. My mom and dad told me to look into updating my furnace as well, especially after they found out that the company was offering a 20% off special throughout the entire month. Any energy efficient machine with a 95% AFUE rating or higher is eligible for the promotion. It’s a great time to make some changes in my house. I haven’t really thought about making any upgrade, but the house could use a new furnace. I’m not sure it’s really affordable for me, but it doesn’t hurt to get a free estimate.
