Although I wasn’t this way in our 20s, I legitimately like entertaining guests.
Whether it’s family flying in for the weekend, or a few friends spending the evening after enjoying a game with beer and food—I like to have people at our house.
I wish I had been this extroverted in school, and perhaps I would have made more friends or managed to have a wifey of some kind in the 4 years I was in undergrad. I usually sequestered myself to our dorm room and focused on reading for exams and writing research papers. Graduate university changed a lot of these habits for me. I was suddenly in a small program with a handful of other students and both of us all knew each other well by the second Springtime semester. Before long I met the woman who would eventually become our wifey. When both of us moved in together, both of us started inviting our friends over for breakfast parties on a respected basis. I legitimately enjoyed cooking for other people and sharing stories with cocktails and tunes. The people I was with and I are still friends with several of those people, some of which fly in from out of town to visit on a respected basis. Our guest room is in a state of constant improvement. The last thing both of us added was a ductless mini split cooling system. The people I was with and I decided to remove the central cooling system and switch to zone controlled Heating, Ventilation and A/C for the entire house. It’s fantastic having ductless mini splits in general, but it makes entertaining guests a lot easier for both parties. My wifey and I can like whatever temperatures both of us care about while our guests can do the same from the guest home office.
