My brother and I were on our way home from school and I was driving.
- I had my license for approximately six months, but our school was only a couple of miles away from the house.
My mom and dad felt safe and comfortable where’s me driving the two of us to school. I didn’t have any problems for many weeks, and then I was in an accident that totaled the car. My brother and I were on our way home from school and it was a couple of minutes after 4. We were parked at a stop sign. I started to pull forward to cross the lane of traffic and a van came barreling out of nowhere. I honestly didn’t see the van coming until it was right in front of the car. I slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The front of my car and the van collided at the same time. The van belonged to an HVAC repair company. The driver of the HVAC repair vehicle jumped out of the truck and started yelling. I started to get nervous since my little brother was in the truck. I decided to get inside of my car and I called the police on myself. The driver of the HVAC repair vehicle came over and started banging on my window. He was getting louder and louder, but the lady on the police dispatch line told me not to open the window or leave the scene of that accident. She told me that an officer was on the way and would arrive soon.
