The new girl on the HVAC team

When I was the new girl on the job, I got a lot of the older workers who talked down to me.

It is called mansplaining, and is when males talk to females like they are idiots and need to have everything spelled out like children.

This is condescending and irritating at best, and blatantly insulting the rest of the time. But at first I just dealt with it, after all I was the new worker, so maybe that’s why they talked down to me. Nope, it turns out it’s the gender gap, because I have been a certified HVAC technician for a year now, and these jerks are still mansplaining my job to me. Little do these old jerks know that the whole reason I am here is because the major HVAC corporations saw a lack of professional women in their industry, and have been working to correct that. You know what, mansplainers? Some people, like single moms and vulnerable older women, aren’t cool with these caveman-like HVAC techs coming into their homes. Market research indicated that a lot of people would be just as comfortable, if not more comfortable, in dealing with a female HVAC tech. I can’t say that I blame them, especially after working side by side with this older generation of A/C repair techs. I hope it isn’t too much longer before they hire another female HVAC tech because I am about running out of patience with these guys. One day I will be running this HVAC repair team, and then things will really change.
