I was surprised at some of the extreme and false information some of the forums gave
You can’t always believe what you see online, is a very true statement. However, as an active forum user, I have found that for the most part, the forums are good natured and have good reliable information. But even some forums have some false and downright bad advice. I learned this when I was dealing with my HVAC component. I noticed my heating and cooling component had started having a strange smell. I was immediately concerned, and before I jumped straight to calling a HVAC business about the issue, I went to see if a website that I frequent had any advice in the forums. I started reading, and I was pretty surprised at what I was reading. There was a mass of opinions of what you should do. Some people were saying that you needed HVAC tech as soon as possible because you were going to die if you didn’t. Others were neutral and said to maybe check it out and see what is going on, and then others said that it was no big deal and to ignore it. I was surprised at some of the extreme and false information some of the forums gave. I have very little knowledge on heating and cooling in general, but even I can see some of the stuff is downright false! Then you always have the conspiracy theorists, like some saying that the smell was the government putting toxic fumes in my heater and air conditioner to poison me and everyone else and it was their plot to slowly overtake the world. Just crazy stuff, I spent 20 minutes in disbelief and slight amusement at the madness of crazy false information online, before I went ahead and decided to call a HVAC corporation just to be on the safe side.
