Heating and cooling don’t mix

I couldn’t figure out why it was so frigid in my house.

  • I didn’t notice it at first.

I was enjoying a horror movie on TV. I thought the chills I was feeling was due to the fear I was feeling. But after the movie ended I got up from the couch and noticed that it was entirely cold frigid in my house. I always have the control component set to 77 degrees all the time so it shouldn’t have been so cold. I got up to check the control component and it was 77 degrees! However, I noticed that the a/c was running consistently. It hadn’t turned off since before the movie. Then I figured out why! My roommate’s kitchen door was wide open. My roommate was at toil and he usually keeps his room door closed. Today was an exception. My roommate also uses a space furnace in his room to stay hot because he is always cold. I should also mention that my control component is just outside of my roommates room. So this heated air was hitting my control component for the past few hours. Because of this, my control component had kept the a/c on. After I closed the kitchen door the a/c finally kicked off and the lake house started more than one hot back up a bit. I’m not looking forward to my electric bill this month though. If it is too high I am going to ask my roommate to pay part of it. Afterall, he is the one who left his room door open with the furnace on.
