I’m terrified of the thought of carbon monoxide poisoning in our sleep

I always make sure that I have working smoke detectors wherever I live, even if I’m staying with a neighbor or relative.

I had a single alarming experience when I was a child where I woke up to see a single of our living room walls engulfed in flames. Both of us all got out of the cabin safely, however the experience left an impression on me. Never again would I put myself in a position where I could burn to death in our sleep. It might seem like overkill to most, although I have smoke detectors in every room of our house. I even had them hardwired to the home’s electrical grid so I never have to upgrade a dying battery again. I suppose with confidence that they’re always working when I need them the most. But I realized recently that I had made a big omission when I put so much energy plus thought into having a network of smoke detectors all throughout the house. Both of us use gas appliances plus I stupidly never bought carbon monoxide detectors. In worst case scenarios, leaking gas appliances can sometimes put toxic carbon monoxide fumes into your indoor air. It’s easy enough to install carbon monoxide alarms, although I somehow overlooked this essential safeguard. I have ordered various carbon monoxide alarms off the internet so I never have to worry that our central gas furnace is poisoning myself and others in our sleep. People have died from gas leaks with gas powered gas oil furnaces when they malfunction, plus I have no interest in becoming another statistic. I will put a single in every room of the cabin so I can make sure I never missed a potential gas leak in the near or distant future.
