Boss sends me upstate to recovery and wellness program after a mini breakdown

Work has been stressful the last year.

  • We have been going through a huge company merger, and I have been working twelve and fifteen hour days for months.

To make things worse, my husband and I are going through a divorce. He threatened to take the kids because of my work schedule. I’ve been to court three times in the last two months. My ex wants to make things difficult. I really don’t think he wants total responsibility for our three teeenagers. He was barely home when we were a parenting team. He is just upset because I wouldn’t put up with his lying and cheating any longer. Still, all of the stress and anxiety has been overwhelming lately. I had a meeting with my boss last week, and I yelled and screamed for ten minutes. My boss looked terrified and I really thought he was going to suspend me or even fire me on the spot. I apologized a hundred times. Intead, he called me to the office the next day to talk about our corporate wellness program. I knew we had a corporate wellness program, but I thought it was for employees with addictions to drugs or alcohol. My boss gave me some information to read, and he urged me to contact the corporate wellness center. He also told me to think about taking a few weeks of vacation after the merger is completed. I promised that I would read the information. I don’t know if I want to share my stress and problems with someone else, but I’m glad to have the valuable resource.
