How you can keep your carpet clean

I own and operate a professional carpet cleaning provider.

Regular professional carpet shampooing is the greatest way to keep residential and commercial carpets fresh and in fantastic shape! Between professional cleanings, there are ways to keep floors looking spruce and feeling their best.

I always tell the homeowners to trim their pet’s nails, claws and keep them properly trimmed. This reduces the amount of pet fur and dirt they might track across the rugs. It also avoids nails and claws ruining the carpet threads and fibers. Investing in an air filter or media air cleaner for the whole house or building is also a great idea. These systems will capture airborne dust and debris, preventing contaminants from settling into the carpet and keeping the whole indoor environment fresher and healthier. I advocate checking the window and door screens of the home. If the mesh of the screens features big openings, replace them with screens with a smaller mesh to keep airborne dirt, pollen, bugs and other elements outside. It’s a good system to have the exterior of the residence or building power washed a few times a year. Built-up dust and grime outside can certainly become airborne and penetrate the indoors, settling onto carpets and other wood surfaces. Make sure to change the air conditioner and oil furnace filters every month and schedule professional duct cleaning every couple of years. All sorts of irritants get trapped in the ductwork and can spread throughout the indoor environment every time the heating or cooling method starts up.
