Doing what I can to avoid the stress

I simply do not like writing the utility bill check while in the warm season.

It’s consistently been this way.

My neck of the woods is really, actually warm & humid while in the warm season. So, the utility bill just gets off the rails. It has been something that I have allowed to continue when just a bit of blood sweat and tears could have saved me thousands over the years. This year, I decided that just hating the utility bill was not enough. I wanted to attack it. That’s why I did just a meager amount of research online to find ways of mitigating the HVAC costs. There are loads of ideas out there on trimming the fat when it comes to cooling your home in the warm season. Most were proper sense but some were entirely insightful. The first thing I had to do was to learn the tricks behind programming the HVAC thermostat. This was far less taxing than I thought it would be. By programming the thermostat, I am able to let the temps in the home rise as they do outside. I try to keep a 15 degree difference between inside plus outside temps in the heat of the morning. I also bought some solar curtains. They do a remarkable job of stopping the ambient air from being heated by the harsh sunlight. But, then I went a bit further by sealing the home up tight. I hadn’t thought of that but, there were numerous gaps plus cracks in the exterior plus interior of our condo that were allowing cool air plus warm air in. Around the time that I tied all those things together, I saved over 20 percent on our HVAC costs.
