When we were growing up my brother got us in trouble very often.
He was always being mischievous and doing things that he shouldn’t.
Unfortunately, all three kids took the blame when he did something he shouldn’t have. Because it was too difficult to track down which child was to blame, that meant we all shared the accusations. As a kid, this was extremely unfair and created a lot of anxiety for us. We were trying to parent my oldest brother ourselves to keep from getting grounded. This was especially the case when it came to our indoor air temperature control settings. For whatever reason, my brother had a real bug up his butt about the central heating, cooling, and ventilation system that was installed in the house. He always wanted to change the indoor air temperatures for one reason or another even though our parents forbade us from touching the thermostat. That never stopped my brother from wandering over to the rudimentary dial thermostat and cranking it whichever direction he wanted. The air conditioning unit or forced air furnace would kick into gear like a bat out of hell for a few minutes before he would crank it back down the other direction. We were always trying to keep him away from the central air conditioning system, forced air furnace, and thermostat. More often than not, we were unsuccessful with overpowering my brother to save the HVAC systems. As a result, my brothers and I spent a lot of time around in our bedrooms with terrible indoor air quality.
