Figure things out one step at a time.
That’s what my mom tells me whenever I start to get overwhelmed with life.
It can be difficult to think about too many things at once or to try to have a grand plan when you can never actually predict the future. This is exactly what I kept in mind when my heating and air conditioning system broke down at the same time last year. Immediately, I panicked when I realized that my HVAC system needed professional repairs and eventual replacement. I knew that I couldn’t afford a full HVAC system upgrade at that point, so I started chiseling away with me and door air handling devices that I could afford. The first thing I decided to upgrade was my thermostat unit. I got a brand new smart thermostat for the first time, so I could take my nasty old dial unit off the wall. As soon as I had the thermostat replaced I felt like my HVAC system was headed in the right direction. My energy bills got much lower and my heating and cooling equipment seems less stressed out with my daily indoor air temperature control settings. I love the feeling of saving money on my monthly utility bills as well as my regular HVAC maintenance appointments. After only a year of using the new smart thermostat unit I’m happy to report that I could easily afford a new air conditioning system. I have a brand new AC unit and it works great. Next up, I will replace the furnace when I have enough cash in my savings account from these heating and cooling modifications.
